Winter in the Colorado Mountains

Winter is here! The fall lingered into December but winter has finally arrived in the South Park Valley as well as the rest of the Colorado mountains. The National Forests and local ski areas provide so many winter activities from cutting Christmas trees to snowmobiling, and from skiing and hiking to snowshoeing.

For $20 you can cut your own tree in the National Forest and enjoy a hike through our majestic mountains at the same time.

End your day at where you're staying with the fresh scent of pine enveloping your room, and the beauty of nature ablaze.

The view across the South Park Valley is especially stunning in the early morning when the lightly snow capped mountains reflect the morning sun.
I often think of the amazement the first inhabitants of this area must have felt when looking at this mountain range, the colors, the quiet, and the possibilities.
